search engine optimisation tricks
non spider friendly websites
What you must avoid for a successful SEO campaign.
Spiders / Bots work to mathmatical equations. What, exactly, those equations amount to no-one really knows, except for the mighty men and women at google and yahoo that write the equations or algorithms in the first place.
Clues are thrown into the boiling pot of the world wide web regularly; after all, the humans that design the algorithms don't want to make it impossible for people to design websites so that they are easily found and displayed to it's search users.
It is the search engine's business to 'serve' relevant, informative sites, so clues into how to structure a website for search engines are posted here and there, it's knowing where to look for them, and perhaps which clues to believe!
Writing for Search Engines
Writing your website in a way that spiders notice you is different to the way you would write for a human to notice you. If your site is written in a way that only search engines can read it, then you are going to cause a problem for the human that will read it after the search engine has displayed it in your browser.
Fine Line
There's a fine line between a readable site for search bots and a readable site for humans. A happy in between is required. One must not structure a website purely for the search engine bot, if one was to structure it this way, when it is displayed to the human that has just typed in the keywords to find you, will be faced with pages crammed with thousands of search terms and perhaps the dreaded asthetics head-ache.
Next site please
There is nothing stopping any of your visitors clicking the back button to find a competitors website with similar content to yours. Making your website readable for humans is as important as making a site readable for spiders.
What is the point of getting first place rankings, if the humans that visit you click the back button straight away to find a more asthetically pleasing site?
